Odyssey: Thoughts and Direction

An odyssey is a journey of some sort. One where there are initial reasons for the journey and yet the unexpected happens. One can leave for a vacation and find architecture, one can leave for architecture and find a desert, one can leave for a desert and find religion or love or family or language and so on. All of these can be very different and yet all have the potential to open the mind and heart to the world and to them self.
In diversity we have the opportunity to see themes and connections that unite whatever it is we are observing. This is what Mark Twain means when he writes, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow mindedness."

A first outline of the project:

A SPACE WHERE PEOPLE CAN GIVE UP THEIR FEELINGS OF RIGHT AND WRONG

- Market
- Library
- Park
- Path of Question
- Two Rooms Of Observation/ Reflection
Room Of Respect
Room Of Outward Attention

the Dredge and the Reaper

Pawn A awakes. Glancing for a place to fit her mangled torso, Nothing suffices.

Pawn B surrounds. Embracing, yet lacking touch, he continues.

Desiring to be guided, directed, pulled, she steps in. Pawn B is encompassing. Pawn A is surrounded, there is a constant pressure. Relocating is of no concern for Pawn A, for denial is followed with unknown. Light floods. Pawn B adjusts and holds the bow.

B is present, but lacks presence. Pawn A is immersed in absence, yet senses the search. Pawn B moves from her path and releases the stern. Surrounding, he steps away. She jumps.
